THE WORLD STILL HAS SURPRISES
There’s a lot you haven’t come across yet.
An invention tucked into a museum. A plant that keeps the same leaves for centuries. Somewhere, someone has studied something extraordinary that has never crossed your path.
ShowingThin.gs gives those things a place to find you. Ask to see something, spend as long as you like with it, then ask again.
Who runs the collection?
ShowingThin.gs is owned and operated by Colin Perry. Its purpose is to help curious readers discover objects and ideas they might otherwise miss.
How the collection is made.
Automated source feeds help locate candidates. AI assists with research summaries and illustrations. New imports remain in a review queue until their evidence, reuse rights, and editorial explanation have been checked. Automated screening can flag incomplete records; editorial judgment determines whether a page offers a worthwhile discovery.
Source links let you examine the underlying records. Generated illustrations are labeled and are interpretive images. They should be read alongside the cited evidence. If you find an error, use the reporting control on the Thing page or contact the site.
Curiosity needs room.
Your feedback helps shape the next discovery. The Serendipity control gives you a say in how far the journey wanders. A record of what you’ve seen helps keep the experience fresh.
Every discovery has a trail.
Thing pages include sources so you can follow the evidence. Connections between discoveries open rabbit holes you can explore at your own pace.
The catalog keeps growing. Browse all Things or let the next discovery find you.
